Fluctuating Shape Device: "Khinance"

>>Excerpt from Donalbain's report:

I am unaware of any Earth word that would translate this item's name properly, except to call it a "Fluctuating Shape Device (FSD)."

FSDs are rather unique objects used as tools and weapons, exclusively owned by the reclusive Nightmare-borne clan of Rylante. Their mastery of nano-technology is yet to be matched by anyone else in the two worlds.

The FSD studied in my report belonged to the human Nightmare-borne, Ave'nayae. This FSD seems to be missing a self-disintegration system, commonly seen in action by these devices. As such, this particular FSD did not disintegrate when separated from it's owner. Due to the unusual nature of it's owner, this FSD may have been specially modified to accomodate a human wielder.

Further inspection of the device's exterior revealed a word inscribed on the surface: Khinance.

The word is Linswanche in origin, a Rylantian language, which roughly translates to "Grand Finale." Nightmare-borne have been known to name their favored weapons, and I believe this is the case with Ave'nayae's FSD.

This FSD is comprised of purified lenanium ore, composited plastinite, and a highly dense colony of advanced nanites equipped with psionic actuators. Whether these actuators are common among FSD, or unique to Khinance, is still unknown.

Density alteration, shapeshifting, and matter expansion/contraction characteristics are similar to the Nightmare-borne's other exclusive creations: Nanomorphs.

After continued study, I believe that the addition of key bio-engineered components, and a rare Type C Artificial Intelligence pattern may be all that is missing in creating a Nanomorph of our own from this FSD. (See page 8)

A copy of this preliminary report, along with further technical details will be sent to the Palocisia Enclave of Nanotech on Rylante, and the Vancouver Nanotech Research Facility of Earth.

A separate report has been filed with Gatekeeper Interplanetary Affairs by May of the SCS Terra Thunder, Storm Corps.
